This is an image of a painting of Longstreet, commissioned by his widow, Helen Dortch Longstreet, in the 1930's. The original painting is located at the Chickamauga National Battlefield in the Visitor's Center. Due to limitations in available space to hang the painting, it is not on public display, but located in the library in the back of the Center.
A copy of this painting hangs at Gettysburg in the Visitor's Center in the area behind the bookshop. The original painting was originally donated to the Gettysburg National Battlefield, but was sent to Chickamauga because Gettysburg did not have a place to display it at that time. |
