This image is believed to be Longstreet, dressed in typical battlefield attire. Some accounts of his presence have noted that he sometimes did not wear his offical tunic with all of its insignia. This would account for the lack of those items in this picture.
However, it is not certain that this is actually Longstreet. A close inspection reveals slight differences in facial features from those photographs known to be him. However, this could be explained as a trick of the light, often a problem in 19th century photography. |
